# Virtual Firewall payment model and pricing

## Balance \{#balance}

Depending on the balance type in your account, either a [unified balance](/balance-and-payments/balance.mdx#united-balance) or a [primary balance](/balance-and-payments/balance.mdx#balances-by-service-type) is used for payment.

You can pay for a firewall using different [types of funds](/balance-and-payments/balance.mdx#funds-types): basic funds and compensation bonuses from Selectel.

## Payment model \{#payment-model}

Virtual firewalls are billed monthly according to a pricing plan that determines the payment amount. The billing day is set when the firewall image is transferred in a ticket; the first paid month starts at this time.

When renting a [virtual firewall](/firewalls/about/about-firewalls.mdx#virtual-firewall), you additionally pay for the cloud resources used by the firewall, such as vCPU, RAM, public IP addresses, and external traffic.

Payment for cloud resources where the firewall is deployed is not included in the firewall pricing plan fee. Funds are deducted hourly based on the pay-as-you-go model at the following rates:

* [cloud servers](/cloud-servers/about/payment.mdx);
* [Private Cloud powered by VMware](https://selectel.ru/services/cloud/vmware/private-cloud/);
* [Public Cloud powered by VMware](/public-cloud/about/payment.mdx).

You can view the latest payment date and the monthly payment amount in the [control panel](https://my.selectel.ru/balance/services): in the top menu, click **Billing** → **Services**.

When a paid month ends, the firewall is automatically renewed for another month. If the firewall is no longer needed, [cancel it](/balance-and-payments/payment-models.mdx#disable-payment).

## Blocking resources when the balance is insufficient \{#blocking-resources-if-insufficient-balance}

If there are insufficient funds in your account balance to pay for cloud resources, the resources will be blocked and the firewall will stop working. If you do not top up your balance within 14 days, the cloud server where the firewall is deployed will be deleted without the possibility of recovery.

If there are insufficient funds in your balance at the time of the scheduled deduction to cover the full pricing plan fee, the firewall will continue to operate. We will send a ticket reminding you to top up your balance.

If funds take a long time to arrive or you are unable to top up your balance, legal entities can [request a balance top-up deferral](/balance-and-payments/manage/balance-replenishment.mdx) of up to five days.

## Pricing \{#prices}

The rental cost of a virtual firewall depends on the selected model and the connection of a fault-tolerant cluster of two firewalls.
