Failover
In case of a primary site failure, you must manually start the replicated virtual machine at the backup site.
In the instructions, failover is considered from the Selectel side. If after an incident you have access to the Cloud Availability of your cloud or On-Premises, you can switch to the Selectel cloud in your cloud interface.

From the control panel, open the Cloud Director panel: in the top menu, click Products → VMware-based Cloud → Cloud Director.

From the Menu, select Availability.

Go to the Incoming Replications section.

Select the task for the virtual machine you want to start.

From the All actions menu, select Failover.

Optional: to merge multiple individual replication instances, select the Consolidate VM disks checkbox.

Optional: to power on the virtual machine after recovery, select the Power on recovered VMs checkbox.

In the Network Settings block, select whether to connect the virtual machine to a specific network or use pre-configured network settings.

Click Next.

Select a recovery point.

Click Next.

Check the parameters and click Finish. After recovery, the replication job line in the Recovery state column will be set to Failed-Over. After a failover, the virtual machine is in another virtual data center and is no longer replicated.

After recovering the virtual machine, perform one of these actions:
- switch back to the primary site and set up replication again — the virtual machine will run again at your site and replicate to the Selectel cloud;
- delete the replication job — the virtual machine will run in the Selectel cloud and will not continue to replicate;
- or set up replication from the backup site to the primary site — the virtual machine will run in the Selectel cloud and will replicate to your site, while all resources of the VMware-based public cloud will be billed.
