Register domain

Last update:

A domain in .ru and .рф zones is registered for one year; at the end of the registration period, the domain must be renewed. By default, auto-renewal is enabled for the domain: if there are sufficient funds in the balance, the fee for the next year is deducted 60 days before the end of the registration period. You can disable auto-renewal and renew the domain manually.

A domain can be registered to an individual, including a sole proprietor, or to a legal entity.

  1. In the control panel, on the top menu, click Products and select Domains.

  2. Ensure you are in the correct project.

  3. Click Register domain.

  4. Enter a keyword to search for a domain — in Latin characters to search in the .ru zone, in Cyrillic to search in the .рф.

  5. Click Check availability.

Suitable domains will appear in the search results. If a domain can be registered, the domain card will show an AVAILABLE label. If the domain is taken, you can view the contact information for its administrator; see the Check domain via Whois instructions for more details.

  6. In the domain card, click Register. Until you complete the registration and pay for the domain, it remains available for registration by other clients.

  7. If you have already entered administrator details for another domain, click Select administrator, choose an administrator from the list, and proceed to step 11.

  8. If you need to enter the details of a new administrator, click New administrator.

  9. Select the administrator type — Individual (including sole proprietor).

  10. Enter administrator details:

10.1.Enter contact details: country of citizenship, email, phone number, full name (as in your passport), and INN.

    10.2.Enter identity document details:

    • for Russian residents — passport details: series and number, date of issue, date of birth, and issuing authority;
    • for non-residents of Russia — passport or ID card details: number and date of birth.

10.3.Enter registration address: postal code, city/town, region, street, house number, and apartment.

  11. Check the I agree to the processing of personal data in accordance with the Policy box.

  12. Check the final domain price.

  13. Click **Register domain for **. It will appear in the Domains section.

When the domain registration is complete, the domain status will change to ACTIVE. You will receive a notification to the domain administrator email address you entered in step 10.1.

  14. Domain resource record management is automatically delegated to Selectel DNS hosting. If you want to use Selectel DNS hosting, create a zone and add resource records. If you want to manage domain resource records via another host — delegate the domain.
