# Change Registrar

Change Registrar — [transfer a domain name from another registrar to Selectel](#move-domain-to-selectel) or [from Selectel to another registrar](#move-domain-from-selectel).

The registrar change process can take up to seven days.

## Transfer a domain from another registrar to Selectel \{#move-domain-to-selectel}

When transferring a domain, the administrator details and the remaining [registration period](/domains/about-domains.mdx#domain-life-stages) will remain the same. When the registration period expires, the domain will be automatically renewed for a year; for more details, see the [Renew a Domain](/domains/manage/renew-domain.mdx) instruction.

1. Make sure the domain is eligible for transfer:

   * is in the `.ru` or `.рф` zone;
   * at least 7 days remain until the end of the [domain registration period](/domains/about-domains.mdx#domain-life-stages);
   * the domain administrator has not changed in the last 30 days;
   * the domain registrar has not changed in the last 30 days;
   * there are no pre-trial or court-ordered restrictions on the domain.

2. Obtain an AuthInfo code from your current domain registrar—a secret code required for the transfer. The code is valid for 20 days from the moment of creation.

3. In the [control panel](https://my.selectel.ru/dns/default/registrar), from the top menu, click **Products** and select **Domains**.

4. Click **Transfer Domain**.

5. Enter the domain name.

6. Enter the AuthInfo code you received from the current registrar in step 2.

7. Check the **I agree to the processing of personal data in accordance with the Policy** checkbox.

8. Check the final domain price.

9. Click **Transfer Domain**. The transfer process will start, and the domain will appear in the **Domains** section with the `TRANSFER IN` status. During the transfer, you can manage the domain in your current registrar's control panel.

10. Wait for the transfer process to complete and the domain status to change to `ACTIVE`. You will also receive a notification about this to the domain administrator's email.

11. Management of domain resource records is automatically delegated to Selectel DNS hosting.

    11.1. If you want to use Selectel DNS hosting, [create a zone](/dns-hosting/zones/create-zone.mdx) and [add resource records](/dns-hosting/records/add-record.mdx).

    11.2. If you want to manage domain resource records via a third-party host, [delegate the domain](/domains/manage/delegate-domain-to-another-hosting.mdx).

## Transfer a domain from Selectel to another registrar \{#move-domain-from-selectel}

1. Make sure you have [topped up your balance](/balance-and-payments/manage/top-up-balance.mdx) with at least 200 ₽. This is required for the domain transfer process to start. The funds will remain on your balance, and you can spend them on other services.

2. Make sure the registrar you want to transfer the domain to supports the domain zone — `.ru` or `.рф`.

3. Make sure the domain is eligible for transfer:

   * at least 7 days remain until the end of the [domain registration period](/domains/about-domains.mdx#domain-life-stages);
   * the domain administrator has not changed in the last 30 days;
   * the domain registrar has not changed in the last 30 days;
   * there are no pre-trial or court restrictions on the domain.

4. In the [control panel](https://my.selectel.ru/dns/default/registrar), on the top menu, click **Products** and select **Domains**.

5. In the **Status** column, check the domain status:

   * if the domain status is `Актуализировать данные`, [verify and update the administrator data](/domains/manage/update-administrator-data.mdx). If you do not do this, domain transfer will be unavailable;
   * if the domain is in any other status, proceed to step 6.

6. In the <MoreVerticalIcon /> domain menu, select **Change registrar**.

7. Click **Change registrar**. The domain will switch to the `TRANSFER OUT` status. Within five minutes, an AuthInfo code will be generated—a secret code required for the transfer.

8. In the top menu, click **Products** and select **Domains**.

9. Open the domain page.

10. In the **AuthInfo code** field, click <CopyIcon />.

11. Go to the control panel of the registrar you want to transfer the domain to.

12. Create a request to transfer the domain and include the AuthInfo code that you copied in step 10.

    Once the new registrar approves the request, the domain will no longer be displayed in the [Control panel](https://my.selectel.ru/dns/default/registrar) in the **Domains** section.
