Create a zone

  1. In the control panel, in the top menu, click Products and select DNS hosting.

  2. Click Add zone.

  3. Enter the DNS zone name — domain name with a dot, for example, example.com.

  4. If you do not need to activate the zone immediately, clear the Activate domain zone checkbox. When the zone is deactivated, the zone and its resource records will not be served from NS servers. Services that use this zone will be unavailable. You can activate the zone at any time.

  5. Click Add.

    NS and SOA records with default values will be automatically created in the zone and cannot be edited:

    • NS — a.ns.selectel.ru, b.ns.selectel.ru, c.ns.selectel.ru, d.ns.selectel.ru.
    • SOA — a.ns.selectel.ru. support.selectel.ru <zone_serial_number> 10800 3600 604800 60, where <zone_serial_number> is the serial number of the zone, which changes when the zone is updated and signals caching servers that the records must be re-cached.

    After creating a zone, you can add resource records. For the zone records to start being served to the DNS system, you need to delegate the domain.

    If in step 4 you cleared the Activate domain zone checkbox, the zone will be created with the DEACTIVATED status and the SOA record disabled, and the records in the zone will not be served to the DNS system. You can activate the zone at any time.
