# Restart remote desktop

If there are issues on the remote desktop side, restart it. Two restart methods are available:

* [soft restart](#perform-soft-reboot) without power cycling;
* [hard restart](#perform-hard-reboot) with power cycling.

## Perform a soft restart \{#perform-soft-reboot}

The remote desktop will restart without powering off. The operating system will shut down correctly and start up again.

1. Open Omnissa Horizon® Client or the [daas.vmw.selectel.com](https://daas.vmw.selectel.com/) portal → **VMware Horizon HTML Access**.
2. In the <MoreVerticalIcon /> desktop menu, select **Reset**.

## Perform a hard restart \{#perform-hard-reboot}

We recommend performing a hard restart only if the server is not responding.

The remote desktop will turn off and immediately turn back on. Any unsaved data may be lost.

1. Open Omnissa Horizon® Client or the [daas.vmw.selectel.com](https://daas.vmw.selectel.com/) portal **→ VMware Horizon HTML Access**.
2. In the <MoreVerticalIcon /> desktop menu, select **Restart**.
