# Manage protection plans

A protection plan can be used for several virtual machines. A single virtual machine can be used with multiple plans. For more information, see the [Protection Plan](https://docs.cyberprotect.ru/ru-RU/CyberBackupCloud/26.03/user/#protection-plan.html) section of the Cyber Backup Cloud documentation.

## Create a protection plan \{#create-protection-plan}

1. In the [Cyber Backup console](https://ru01-cloud.cyberprotect.ru), go to **Devices** → **All devices**.
2. Select the machines for which you want to create a protection plan.
3. Click **Protect** → **Create plan**.
4. Optional: change the plan name.
5. Configure the protection plan and backup settings; for more details, see the [Protection plan: cheat sheet](https://docs.cyberprotect.ru/ru-RU/CyberBackupCloud/26.03/user/#protection-plan-cheat-sheet.html) in the Cyber Backup Cloud documentation.
6. If you need to protect an Active Directory, MS SQL, or MS Exchange server, click **Application backup**, enable the toggle, and click **OK**.
7. Click **Create**. The actual start of the protection plan may be delayed by up to 30 minutes due to load balancing.

## Apply a protection plan \{#apply-protection-plan}

1. In the [Cyber Backup console](https://ru01-cloud.cyberprotect.ru), go to **Devices** → **All devices**.
2. Select the machines to which you want to apply a protection plan.
3. In the row with the protection plan, click **Apply**.
