General information about DNS
DNS (Domain Name System) is used to convert a domain name to an IP address and back. It consists of many DNS servers that store information about matching domain names and IP addresses.
In the network interface settings, you must specify specific recursive DNS servers (resolvers) — servers in the DNS system from which information will be requested. We recommend using Selectel recursive DNS servers or world DNS recursors, but you can use any available DNS servers.
In the OS images prepared by Selectel, all necessary settings for DNS are made. For a dedicated server, when OS installation from your ISO image configure DNS on the OS side.
When you create a cloud private subnet and a public subnet on devices, Selectel recursive DNS servers are automatically assigned to the subnet. You can change the DNS servers by subnetting or modify after creation.
