Add a cloud server to a placement group

You can only add a cloud server to a placement group by cloud server creation.

You cannot directly add an existing server to a placement group, but you can when creating a copy of the server band.

Add an existing cloud server to the group⁠

An existing cloud server cannot be added to a group. Create a copy of the cloud server and add the server to the placement group when creating it.

1. If the cloud server has a local boot disk, create an image from the disk.

2. If the cloud server has a network boot disk, select one of the options:

   • create an image from the disk;
   • snapshot the disk;
   • or disconnect the boot disk from the cloud server.

3. Use the instructions Create a cloud server. Select a created image, snapshot, or a disk that you have disconnected from the server as the source.
