Connect a public IP address to the load balancer
A static public IP address can be connected when creating a balancer or in an already created balancer.
- Control panel
- OpenStack CLI
- Create a public IP address in the pool where the load balancer resides.
- If the load balancer is on a private subnet, connect subnet to cloud router. Check that the router is connected to external network.
- In Control Panel, go to Cloud Platform → Balancers.
- In the balancer card, click Connect Public IP Address. Select a public IP address.

Look for the balancer port ID — the
vip_port_id
value from the command output:openstack loadbalancer show <loadbalancer>
Specify
<loadbalancer>
— balancer ID or name, can be viewed withopenstack loadbalancer list

Connect the public IP address to the balancer:
openstack floating ip set --port <loadbalancer_port_ID> <floating_IP>
Specify:
<loadbalancer_port_ID>
— Balancer port ID;<floating_IP>
is the public IP address.
