Move a cloud server disk
You can only move a network volume:
- to another pool segment of any availability zone and any region — during the move, you can select a different project or account;
- to another project or account — only within the same pool segment.
Move a disk to another pool segment
To move a disk to another pool segment, you must create its image, move the image, and create a new disk from it. Moving a disk directly to another pool segment is impossible.
When moving a disk image, you can choose a different project or account.
- Create a disk image.
- Transfer the image to another pool segment.
- Create a disk from the image.
- Optional: delete the disk image.
Move a disk to another project or account
You can move a network volume to another project or account only within the same pool segment. You can migrate a single disk or several disks at once.

Move multiple disks
- Detach the disk from the cloud server.
- In the Control panel, on the top menu, click Products and select Cloud Servers.
- Go to the Disks section.
- In the menu for the disk, select Move to another project.
- Click Start transfer. The disk will enter the
AWAITING_TRANSFERstatus and will be unavailable for use. The window that opens will display the data required to complete the transfer — the Transfer ID and Key. - Optional: to cancel the transfer at any time (return the disk to the
ACTIVEstatus), in the menu for the disk, select Manage transfer and click Cancel transfer. - In a new browser tab, open the project to which you want to move the disk.
- In the Control panel, on the top menu, click Products and select Cloud Servers.
- Go to the Disks section. Make sure that you have opened the list of disks in the same pool segment from which the disk is being moved.
- In the menu for the section header, select Accept disks from another project.
- In the window that opens, enter the Transfer ID and Key you received in step 5. Click Accept.
