Boot a Cloud Server in Rescue and Troubleshooting Mode
Use Rescue mode to recover Linux-based servers. For Windows servers, we recommend recovering from an ISO image.
If your cloud server does not boot or you cannot connect to it, boot it in Rescue and troubleshooting mode. Once booted, you can access the server's file system, troubleshoot it, and restore the operating system.
Pre-installed utilities for system diagnostics and recovery are available in Rescue mode — see the list of utilities.
- Boot the cloud server into Rescue recovery and diagnostics mode.
- Connect to the server.
- Once server recovery and diagnostics are complete, exit Rescue mode.
1. Boot the server in Rescue
- In the control panel, in the top menu, click Products and select Cloud Servers.
- Open the Servers tab.
- In the server menu, select Rescue mode.
- Click Boot to Rescue. The server status will change to
RESCUE.
2. Connect to the server
You can connect to a cloud server in Rescue mode:
- via SSH — for servers with the Linux operating system;
- via RDP — for servers with the Windows operating system;
- via the console in the control panel — for servers with any operating system.
For a cloud server to connect via SSH or RDP, it must have internet access:
3. Exit Rescue mode
- In the control panel, in the top menu, click Products and select Cloud Servers.
- Open the Servers tab.
- In the server menu, select Exit Rescue.
