Add a cloud server to a placement group

You can only add a cloud server to a placement group when creating the cloud server.

An existing server cannot be directly added to a placement group, but you can create a copy of the server and add it to a group.

Add an existing cloud server to a group

An existing cloud server cannot be added to a group. Create a copy of the cloud server and add the server to a placement group during creation.

1. If the cloud server has a local boot volume, create an image from the volume.

2. If the cloud server has a network boot volume, choose one of the options:

   • create an image from the volume;
   • create a volume snapshot;
   • or detach the boot volume from the cloud server.

3. Use the Create a cloud server instruction. As a source, select the created image, snapshot, or the volume that you detached from the server.
