Direct public IP addresses

For your information

Direct public IP addresses are not available in the pools uz-1 and ke-1.

Direct public IP addresses are static IP addresses that can be connected to cloud servers to configure access to and from the internet for them.

Direct public IP addresses are not processed by a cloud router using 1:1 NAT, but are connected directly to the cloud server. Due to the lack of NAT, this type of internet connection is more fault-tolerant and faster, but less secure than connecting via a public floating IP address.

A direct public IP address is created together with a port. When deleting a direct public IP address, the port is deleted along with the IP address.

When created, a direct public IP address is allocated from a pool of addresses automatically; it cannot be selected.

A port with a direct public IP address has a single IP/MAC address pair; you cannot add additional allowed IP/MAC addresses to it.

A direct public IP address can only be used within a single project and a single pool.

For direct public IP addresses, there are limits on traffic volume — bandwidth. You can view it in the Bandwidth table.

You can work with direct public IP addresses using the API and Terraform. In the control panel, you can view the list of direct public IP addresses and delete them.

Connect a direct public IP address to a cloud server

If a public floating IP address is used on the server and you want to switch to a direct public IP address, use the Switch a cloud server from a floating public IP address to a direct public IP address subsection of the Configure access to and from the internet instructions.

  1. In the control panel, in the top menu, click Products and select Cloud Servers.
  2. In the Servers section, open the server page → Ports tab.
  3. Click Add port.
  4. In the Subnet field, select Direct public IP address.
  5. Select an existing IP address or click New IP address.
  6. Click Add.

Delete a direct public IP address

After deletion, the direct public IP address will return to the pool of direct public addresses.

If a direct public IP address is connected to a cloud server, the server port assigned to this IP address will be deleted along with it.

  1. In the control panel, in the top menu, click Products and select Cloud Servers.

  2. Go to the Network section → Direct public IP addresses tab.

  3. In the menu of the direct public IP address, select Delete IP address.

  4. Enter the IP address to confirm deletion.

  5. Click Delete.
