Scale Trino cluster

You can scale a Trino cluster:

  • change the configuration of the coordinator and workers — decrease or increase the amount of vCPUs and RAM;

  • change the number of workers:

    • set a fixed number from 1 to 10;

    • or configure autoscaling — the number of workers will change automatically depending on the cluster load. You can specify the number of workers in the range from 1 to 10. Workers are checked every 10 seconds. If there are not enough resources in the cluster, the process of adding a worker starts immediately. If a worker is not sufficiently loaded, the process of deleting it starts after 10 minutes.

Scale cluster

  1. In the control panel, in the top menu, click Products and select Trino.

  2. Open the cluster page → Configuration tab.

  3. In the Cluster block, click Edit configuration.

  4. Select a different configuration for the coordinator.

  5. Select a different configuration for workers.

  6. Configure the number of workers:

    6.1. If the cluster should have a fixed number of workers, select Fixed and specify the number of workers.

    6.2. If the cluster should have autoscaling configured, select Autoscaled and specify the minimum and maximum number of workers. The number of workers will change automatically only within the specified range depending on the cluster load.

  7. Click Save.
