# Manage catalogs in a Trino cluster

You can add catalogs when [creating a cluster](/cloud-for-trino/create-cluster.mdx) or in an [existing cluster](#add-catalog-in-existing-cluster). If necessary, you can [edit](#change-catalog) or [delete a catalog](#delete-catalog).

By default, a Trino cluster can connect to external data sources from catalogs over the internet — no additional configuration is required.

## Add a catalog to an existing cluster \{#add-catalog-in-existing-cluster}

1. In the [Control panel](https://my.selectel.ru/data-platform/default/trino/), from the top menu, click **Products** and select **Trino**.

2. Open the cluster page → **Catalogs** tab.

3. Click **Add catalog**.

4. Enter the catalog name. The name can contain:

   * only lowercase Latin letters;
   * digits;
   * underscores;
   * up to 63 characters.

5. Optional: enter a description for the catalog.

6. Select the [connector](/cloud-for-trino/about/about-cloud-for-trino.mdx#connectors) type.

7. Specify connection parameters for the data source. Connection parameters vary depending on the selected connector.

   If the catalog requires additional connector parameters that are not available in the Control panel, [create a ticket](https://my.selectel.ru/tickets/create/). In the ticket, specify the connector type and the required parameters.

           7.1. Select the connection type — **REST**.

           7.2. In the **URI** field, enter the Iceberg REST catalog address in the format `https://<rest-catalog-host>:<port>`.

           Specify:

           * `<rest-catalog-host>` — the catalog's DNS name or IP address;

           * `<port>` — the port for connecting to the catalog.

           If you use [Cloud for Hive Metastore](/cloud-for-hive-metastore/) as the catalog, enter the address in the format `https://<ip_address>:8080`, where `<ip_address>` is the private IP address of the Hive Metastore cluster.

           7.3. In the **Region** field, enter the region where the S3-compatible storage is located. If you use [Selectel S3](/s3/) as the S3-compatible storage, enter the [pool](/infrastructure/locations.mdx#pool) where S3 is located (for example, `ru-1`).

           7.4. In the **Endpoint** field, enter the S3-compatible storage endpoint in the format `https://<domain>`.

           Specify `<domain>` — the domain of the S3-compatible storage.

           If you use [Selectel S3](/s3/) as the S3-compatible storage, enter the endpoint in the format `https://s3.<pool>.storage.selcloud.ru`, where `<pool>` is the [pool](/infrastructure/locations.mdx#pool) where S3 is located (for example, `ru-1`). If S3 and the Trino cluster are located in the same pool, the connection to S3 is established over a dedicated network that provides higher throughput than the cluster subnet.

           7.5. Optional: in the **Path to warehouse** field, enter the [prefix](/s3/objects/manage-folder.mdx) under which metadata and table data of the Iceberg catalog will be stored. We recommend filling in this field to avoid overwriting and deleting data when using a bucket for multiple Iceberg catalogs. If you leave the field empty, metadata will be stored in the bucket root.

           7.6. In the **Access Key** field, enter the access key ID. If you use [Selectel S3](/s3/) as the data store, enter the **Access key** field value from the [S3 key](/access-control/manage/edit-user-data-or-role.mdx#issue-s3-key).

           7.7. In the **Secret Key** field, enter the secret access key. If you use [Selectel S3](/s3/) as the data store, enter the **Secret key** field value from the [S3 key](/access-control/manage/edit-user-data-or-role.mdx#issue-s3-key).
