We will notify you of any changes to the terms in advance.

Cloud for Redash is a service for deploying and managing clusters with the Redash BI tool in the Selectel Cloud Platform. Redash allows you to run SQL queries against various data sources and visualize the results as charts, dashboards, and reports. Learn more about the Redash tool in the official Redash documentation.

The locations where you can create Redash clusters are listed in the Cloud for Redash availability by location instructions.

Redash clusters support user roles and types, projects, and project limits and quotas.

Versions

Redash clusters support version 26.3.0.

Use cases

  • running SQL queries against various data sources;
  • creating visualizations: graphs, charts, maps, and tables;
  • building dashboards to monitor key metrics;
  • generating regular reports and scheduling automated distributions;
  • publishing and sharing queries, visualizations, and dashboards among users;
  • interactive data analysis (ad-hoc queries) without creating predefined reports;
  • integration with data platform components: Managed Databases, S3, Cloud for Trino, Cloud for Hive Metastore.

How it works

To get started, create a cluster in the control panel.

When creating a cluster, you select its configuration based on the workload profile. Fixed configurations with a balanced vCPU:RAM resource allocation are available. If these configurations do not suit your needs, you can order a custom configuration. To do this, submit a ticket and specify the resource ratio.

A Redash cluster can only be connected to a private subnet. External access is used to connect to the Redash graphical user interface. Learn more in the Connect to a Redash cluster instructions.

One administrator user is automatically created for each cluster. When creating a cluster, administrator credentials are set: email and password. They are used to connect to the cluster.

After creating a cluster, you can only change the administrator password; the email cannot be changed.

How to work with a Redash cluster

After creating a cluster, you can:

Users can only be managed through the Redash web UI.

Areas of responsibility

Selectel is responsible for

  • hardware selection for high performance of Redash clusters;
  • installation and standard configuration of Redash;
  • updating and maintaining the operating system and utility software;
  • configuring and maintaining the internal network in the cluster;
  • resource availability for cluster scaling if scaling was initiated by you;
  • technical support.

Selectel is not responsible for

  • the availability and operability of external data sources;
  • having the necessary access permissions to data sources;
  • optimality of SQL queries;
  • the content and accuracy of data in visualizations, dashboards, and reports;
  • adjusting the Redash cluster configuration according to the workload profile;
  • initiating cluster scaling.

Pricing

During public preview, Cloud for Redash is provided free of charge. In the future, the service will become paid — we will notify you of any changes to the terms in advance.

Limitations

Selectel sets account and project limits, as well as resource quotas. Learn more in the Quotas and limits instructions.

In Redash clusters, you can only select fixed configurations; custom selection of vCPU and RAM is not available. If these configurations do not suit your needs, you can order a custom configuration. To do this, submit a ticket and specify the resource ratio.
