Change data storage in a Hive Metastore cluster

Connecting buckets is only available with the vHosted addressing type.

  1. In the control panel, in the top menu, click Products and select Hive Metastore.

  2. Open the cluster page → Configuration tab.

  3. In the Data storage line, click .

  4. In the Region field, enter the region where the S3-compatible storage is located. If you use Selectel S3 as your S3-compatible storage, enter the pool where the S3 storage is located (for example, ru-1).

  5. In the Endpoint field, enter the S3-compatible storage endpoint in the format https://<domain>.

    Specify <domain> — the S3-compatible storage domain.

If you use Selectel S3 as your S3-compatible storage, enter the endpoint in the format https://s3.<pool>.storage.selcloud.ru, where <pool> is the pool where the S3 storage is located (for example, ru-1). If S3 and the Hive Metastore cluster are in the same pool, the connection to S3 is established over a dedicated network, which provides higher throughput than the cluster subnet.

  6. Enter the bucket name.

  7. Optional: in the Path to warehouse field, enter the prefix under which Hive Metastore will store table metadata and data. We recommend specifying a prefix to avoid overwriting and deleting data when a single bucket is used by multiple Hive Metastore clusters. If you leave the field empty, metadata will be placed in the root of the bucket.

  8. In the Access Key field, enter the access key ID. If Selectel S3 is used as the data storage, enter the value of the Access key field from the S3 key.

  9. In the Secret Key field, enter the secret key of the access key. If Selectel S3 is used as the data storage, enter the value of the Secret key field from the S3 key.

  10. Optional: to check the bucket connection, click Check connection.

  11. Click Save.
