Payment and pricing model for CDN
Balance
To pay for CDN, depending on the account balance type, a unified balance or a storage and CDN balance is used.
You can pay for CDN with different types of funds: basic funds or bonuses.
Before you start using CDN, top up your balance with 550 ₽ for each CDN resource you plan to create.
Payment model
When you create your first CDN resource and it enters the ACTIVE status, a traffic package becomes available for the resource under the billing plan. During the first calendar month of using CDN, you only pay for additional traffic.
The first payment for the billing plan is charged in the second calendar month of using the service. Subsequent payments for the billing plan are charged automatically on the first day of each month. Charges are made for each resource that is in the ACTIVE. status.
For example, you created your first CDN resource on April 10. Once the CDN resource enters the ACTIVE status, a traffic package becomes available for it under the billing plan. You used up the entire traffic package by April 25. Additional traffic started to be charged using the pay-as-you-go model: charges are deducted every hour for the corresponding hour of the previous day. This means that charges for consumption on April 25 at 9:00 will be deducted on April 26 at 9:00. The first payment for the billing plan for April will be deducted on May 1. The next billing plan deduction will be on June 1.
On May 3, you created a second CDN resource. A traffic package also became available for it. The first payment for the billing plan will be deducted on June 1. On this same day, the monthly payment for the first CDN resource you created on April 10 will be deducted. This means that on June 1, payments for both CDN resources will be deducted from your balance.
Further deductions for the billing plan and additional traffic will be made according to the payment model.
If you have enabled additional services, such as image optimization, they are paid for separately.
To stop deductions, cancel your CDN.
Billing plan
Each CDN resource has a separate billing plan. The billing plan includes 800 GB of external traffic — from CDN servers to end users.
Additional traffic
Additional traffic is traffic that is consumed beyond the billing plan. Additional traffic is charged per GB and is paid based on the pay-as-you-go model — charges are deducted every hour for the corresponding hour of the previous day. Deductions are delayed by one day due to the specifics of collecting consumption data from CDN servers.
For example, payment for consumption on April 25 at 9:00 will be deducted on April 26 at 9:00.
Blocking a CDN resource in case of insufficient funds
If at the time of a scheduled deduction there are insufficient funds on your balance, the creation of new CDN resources will be blocked. In this case, already created CDN resources will continue to work, and additional traffic will be charged on credit. After 14 days from the moment of the fund shortage, the resources will be disabled, and the cache will be fully cleared.
If you do not top up your balance with the amount of the debt within 30 days of the fund shortage, all CDN resources will be deleted without the possibility of recovery. While the disabled resources have not been deleted, you can pay off the debt and resume their operation.
Suppose you used up your basic traffic package according to the plan on June 15. On June 18, there were insufficient funds on your balance to pay for additional traffic. The creation of new CDN resources was blocked for you. Existing resources continued to work, and additional traffic for these resources began to be charged on credit. On July 1, the monthly payment for the billing plan was added to the debt.
On July 3, 14 days after the debt was incurred, the resources were disabled with cache clearing. The total debt was 710 ₽ — for the traffic package and additional traffic. Within a day of July 3, the system received precise consumption data, and the debt amount increased to 715 rubles. On July 19, 30 days after the debt was incurred, the debt had still not been paid off, and the resources were deleted without the possibility of recovery.
To ensure you do not miss topping up your balance, you can enable balance notifications and configure automatic balance top-ups.
Resume CDN operation
- Top up the balance from which the service is paid. The debt amount will be deducted from your balance immediately after the top-up.
- Wait for the service to be activated; this can take up to 30 minutes.
- Enable your CDN resource.
View consumption
You can view consumption in the Control panel: from the top menu, click Products → CDN → Consumption.
Data are presented in the form of consumption and payment charts. Consumption and payment charts can be viewed for a specific time period or sorted by days, weeks, months, or years.
Data in consumption charts are displayed with a one-day delay. This means that the consumption for the current day in the chart is effectively the consumption for the previous day. Accurate amounts can be viewed in billing documents.
To export the breakdown of consumption and payments in .csv format, click Download CSV and choose how the rows in the export will be grouped (by hours, days, weeks, months, years).
All CDN resource locks are displayed on the consumption and billing charts.
Prices
The CDN price consists of:
- the cost of the billing plan — a fixed cost for each CDN resource;
- the cost of additional traffic. The price per 1 GB is set for each consumption range (up to 10 TB, from 10 to 30 TB, etc.). When consumption reaches the next threshold, the price per 1 GB decreases;
- the cost of additional services, for example, image optimization.
