Payment and pricing model for CDN
Balance
To pay for CDN, depending on the balance type in the account, the unified balance or storage and CDN balance is used.
You can pay for CDN with different types of funds: main funds, bonuses.
Payment model
When you create your first CDN resource and it switches to the ACTIVE status, a traffic package under the pricing plan becomes available for the resource. During the first calendar month of using CDN, you only pay for additional traffic.
The first payment under the pricing plan is charged in the second calendar month of using the service. Subsequent payments under the pricing plan are charged automatically on the first day of each month. Charges are made for each resource in the ACTIVE status.
For example, you created your first CDN resource on April 10. As soon as the CDN resource switched to the ACTIVE status, a traffic package under the pricing plan became available for it. You consumed the entire traffic package by April 25. Additional traffic started being billed under the pay-as-you-go model: every hour, payment is charged for the same hour of the previous day. This means that payment for consumption on April 25 at 9:00 will be charged on April 26 at 9:00. The first payment under the pricing plan for April will be charged on May 1. The next charge under the pricing plan will be on June 1.
On May 3, you created a second CDN resource. The traffic package also became available for it. The first payment under the plan will be deducted on June 1. On the same day, the monthly fee for the first CDN resource created on April 10 will be deducted. This means that on June 1, the payment for both CDN resources will be deducted from your balance.
Subsequent deductions under the plan and for additional traffic will be made according to the payment model.
If you have additional services enabled, such as image optimization, they are billed separately.
To stop charges, disable CDN.
Plan
There is a separate plan for each CDN resource. The plan includes 800 GB of outbound traffic—from CDN servers to end users.
Additional traffic
Additional traffic is traffic consumed over the pricing plan. Additional traffic is billed per GB and paid under the pay-as-you-go model — every hour, payment is charged for the same hour of the previous day. Charges occur with a 24-hour delay due to specifics of collecting consumption data from CDN servers.
For example, the payment for consumption on April 25 at 9:00 will be deducted on April 26 at 9:00.
Suspending a CDN resource if there are insufficient funds on the balance
If there are insufficient funds on the service balance at the time of deduction, creating new CDN resources will be blocked. At the same time, existing CDN resources will continue to work, and additional traffic will be charged on credit. 14 days after the lack of funds occurs, the resources will be disabled and their cache will be completely cleared.
If you do not top up the balance by the debt amount within 30 days of the fund shortage, all CDN resources will be permanently deleted. Until the disabled resources are deleted, you can pay the debt and resume their operation.
Suppose you used up the included traffic package under your plan on June 15. On June 18, your balance had insufficient funds to pay for additional traffic. Creating new CDN resources was blocked for you. Existing resources continued to work, and additional traffic for these resources began to be charged on credit. On July 1, the monthly payment under the plan was added to the debt.
On July 3, 14 days after the debt was incurred, the resources were disabled with cache purging. The debt amount was 710 ₽—for the traffic package and additional traffic. Within 24 hours of July 3, accurate consumption data was received by the system, and the debt increased to 715 rubles. On July 19, 30 days after the debt was incurred, the debt was still not repaid, and the resources were deleted without the possibility of recovery.
To avoid missing balance top-ups, you can enable balance notifications and set up balance auto-top-up.
Resume CDN operation
- Top up the balance from which the service is paid for. The debt amount will be deducted from the balance immediately after top-up.
- Wait for the service to be activated; this may take up to 30 minutes.
- Enable the CDN resource.
View consumption
You can view consumption in the Control panel: in the top menu, click Products → CDN → Consumption.
Data is presented as consumption and payment charts. Consumption and payment charts can be viewed for a specific time period or grouped by days, weeks, months, and years.
Data in consumption charts is displayed with a 24-hour delay. This means that consumption for the current day on the chart is actually consumption for yesterday. You can view the exact amounts in the accounting documents.
To export consumption and payment details in .csv format, click Download CSV and choose how the rows in the export will be grouped (by hour, day, week, month, year).
All CDN resource suspensions are displayed on consumption charts and payment charts.
Prices
CDN pricing consists of:
- the cost of the pricing plan — a fixed cost for each CDN resource;
- the cost of additional traffic. The price per 1 GB is set for each consumption tier (up to 10 TB, from 10 to 30 TB, etc.). When consumption reaches the next threshold, the price per 1 GB decreases;
- the cost of additional services, such as image optimization.
