# Balance status notifications

Notifications can be configured only for [main balance](/balance-and-payments/balance.mdx#funds-types) funds. They are sent even if there are bonuses on this balance.

Notifications can be enabled:

* automatically at the first charge for cloud services  (Cloud Platform, S3, CDN, VMware-based cloud) for the balance from which the charge was made. You can [change the automatically enabled notification](#change-balance-notifications);
* [manually](#enable-balance-notifications).

If your account has multiple users, you can configure balance notifications for them; to do this, [subscribe them to notifications](/account/notifications.mdx#subscribe-to-category) from the **Billing and Payments** category.

If you prefer to receive notifications in a messenger, you can [connect Telegram notifications](/account/telegram-bot.mdx).

When enabling a notification, keep in mind that when [topping up your balance](/balance-and-payments/manage/top-up-balance.mdx) via a bank transfer, the payment processing by the bank may take some time. There must be sufficient funds on your balance to cover services while the payment is being processed. If funds take a long time to arrive, expedite the top-up — [create a ticket](https://my.selectel.ru/tickets/create) and attach the payment order with the bank's execution stamp.

## How it works \{#principle-of-operation}

When you enable a notification, you set a threshold amount and notification frequency for it. When the [main balance](/balance-and-payments/balance.mdx#funds-types) funds drop below the threshold amount, you will start receiving email notifications. Notifications will arrive at the set frequency, for example, every three hours.

When a notification is enabled automatically:

* threshold amount — the amount for seven days of service, calculated based on your current [consumption](/cloud-servers/about/payment.mdx#view-consumption). If consumption increases sharply, you may run out of funds sooner;
* notification frequency — every hour.

When changing an automatically enabled notification or enabling a notification manually, you specify the threshold amount and notification frequency yourself.
