Transfer services to another account
If your Selectel account balance has already been topped up, you cannot re-register the account to a different legal entity or individual. Register a new account and transfer all projects and services to it. In this case, you will not need to reconfigure the services in the new account.
You can transfer a project, several services, or all services of an account. Limitations:
- if services are connected by a private network at L3 using a global router, they cannot be transferred separately — only all at once. Connectivity between services will be preserved in the destination account;
- some services can only be transferred with downtime — we will notify you in a ticket;
- service users, S3 keys, and PTR records are not transferred — in the new account, you need to create users, issue S3 keys for them, and add PTR records;
- when a project is transferred, all resources of that project will be transferred: dedicated servers, cloud servers, buckets, public IP addresses, databases, and other resources;
- all resources will remain within the same pool segment.
If the source account has services paid under a pricing plan, the paid period is not preserved during the transfer. Funds for all unused days will be refunded to the source account balance, and in the destination account, the paid period will begin immediately after the transfer.
For example, you have a dedicated server with a 3-month billing plan and a cost of 10 000 ₽/month. You decide to transfer it to another account after 1 month and 15 days. Then, when transferring the server, funds for the unused days will be returned to the source account balance — 15 000 ₽. In the destination account, the billing period will start over — 30 000 ₽ for three months will be deducted from the account balance at once.
After the funds are returned to the source account, you can request a refund.
Transferring services to another account takes up to 15 minutes.
Transfer services
Only the Account Owner can submit a request to transfer services.
-
Make sure you have a recipient account. If you do not have one, register a new account.
-
Top up the balance of the recipient account. The balance must not be less than the cost of the transferred services billed on a plan basis.
You can view infrastructure expenses in the control panel: in the top menu, click Billing → Billing overview section → Expenses block.
-
Group all resources to be transferred in an existing or new project.
Use the transfer instructions:
You can transfer S3 resources to another project using storage management tools.
-
If you need to transfer dedicated server and colocation networks, make sure you do not use them with resources that will remain on the source account. You can view the list of your public IP addresses in the control panel: in the top menu, click Products → IP addresses.
-
Create tickets requesting the transfer from both the source and recipient accounts. Tickets must be created by Account Owners on each account at least 24 hours before the transfer.
In the tickets, specify:
- source and recipient account numbers;
- date and time of the transfer. If we are unable to transfer the services at the specified time, we will notify you in the ticket and arrange another time;
- the list of IDs of the projects to be transferred. You can view project IDs in the control panel: in the top menu, click IAM → Projects → in the project row, in the ID column, click ;
- the list of services to be transferred that do not support projects.
-
Wait for a response from the Selectel specialist; they will send a confirmation code to the contact phone number of the source account. If you do not have access to the phone number, change it.
-
In the ticket created from the source account in step 5, specify the confirmation code.
-
If you need to transfer equipment colocated at Selectel, we will send documents in the tickets:
- to the source account — an acceptance certificate for equipment return;
- to the recipient account — an acceptance certificate for equipment acceptance and the Terms of Telecommunication Services.
Before the transfer date, sign the documents, seal them with a stamp, and send scanned copies in the ticket.
-
Wait for a response from the Selectel specialist confirming that the services have been transferred.
-
Make sure that all transferred services are displayed in the recipient account.
-
Optional: request a refund for the remaining balance on the source account.
If the source and recipient accounts are registered to the same entity, you can request a balance transfer: create a ticket and specify the numbers of the source and recipient accounts. We will send an application form for the balance transfer.
-
Optional: configure access permissions on the recipient account:
12.1. Add users that were added to the source account.
12.2. Issue S3 keys to the users you added in step 12.1.
-
Optional: add PTR records that were added to the source account.
